“Pret A Manger, a U.K. sandwich chain, and Nando’s, a South African chicken-specialist, have both become big in the U.S. in recent years”
Now, I suppose it depends on where in the US you live. You could live maybe in Washington D.C. where both chains have locations. Pret a Manger, which is a chain I have patronized in the US, Great Britain, and in Tokyo before they pulled out, has about 50 locations in the US, according to our ReCount restaurant census data. And Nando’s, another chain for which I have affection, has between 10 and 20.
Yes, both of these restaurant chains could be very successful. They both have experience projecting into new markets. But they are not “big” as such.
